The director of the Iowa Department of Transportation is resigning at the request of the governor.
A statement from Governor Kim Reynolds’ office says she, quote, “has decided to seek a change in leadership as she continues to build her administration.”

A new state program will mail free opioid reversal drug kits to anyone in the state. The drug involved is naloxone -- also known as Narcan. The state Department of Public Health has partnered with the University of Iowa to offer the program. Usually, a two-dose kit can cost as much as 150 dollars. One hundred and thirty-seven Iowans died of an opioid overdose last year. Anyone interested in getting a free kit can go to naloxone Iowa dot org to schedule a video consultation with a pharmacist.
An atheist leader says his organization will fight to add displays of its own if a Nativity scene is returned to a courthouse lawn in southern Iowa. The Daily Iowegian reports that the Nativity scene was moved Monday from the Appanoose County Courthouse lawn in Centerville. Some residents had complained that a religious display should not be placed on government property. The Centerville City Council is scheduled to discuss the issue on Monday.
